Martin Miguel (No/Uk/Do)
Oslo Caribbean Festival proudly present a newcomer to the festival: Martin Miguel. Born in the Dominican Republic, lived in the UK before moving to Norway more than a decade ago. From his roots he obviously is carrying the love for dance and Caribbean rhythms, and he has had a vision of spreading this love to the local community and beyond, where he lives in the village called Ås, about 30 minutes outside Oslo.
He says: ‘Life is a dance, you learn as you go. Sometimes you lead, sometimes you follow. Don’t worry about what you don’t know. Life is a dance, dance till the cows come home.’
We simply LOVE this!!
He has created a great dance community in Ås, and his parties have grown such a good reputation that dancers from multiple cities around Ås, including dancers from Oslo, attend the workshops and social dance he organises.
We are very happy to have hin on the artist team for the festival this year, teaching of course the Dominican bachata and merengue.
