Saturday Night is SATURDAY NIGHT, and at OSLO CARIBBEAN Festival you are in for a real treat for this coming Saturday Party! Ary Morais & Band will start off the night with amazing tunes on different rhythms from Cape Verde. They will be playing two short sets with a break with dj in between. International DJ’s will provide the very best dance tunes on four (!!) different dance floors, divided in cuban salsa, xbody salsa, bachata and kizomba/semba/zouk. ANTEROZ will provide full bar service all night, and on their special, tropical menu they have some amazing cocktails and mocktails, for those interested. And our amazing, Jamaican MC, Mr. Rohan Brown, will be putting everything neatly together and also surprise you with some great animations.

More about Anteroz and their rhum based on the traditional, Dominican Mamajuana

The Mamajuana drink has over 500 years of tradition in the Dominic Republic in the Caribbean. It is made by mixing rum, red wine and honey with tree bark and various herbs. Every Dominican family has its own recipe. It is said to have several positive health effects, like fever-reducing and pain-relieving. A part from a variety of cocktails, the Anteroz Bar will of course also offer mineral water, beer, wine and other refreshments.

More about Ary Morais & Band

Ary Morais is a Norwegian based guitarist and singer-songwriter from cape Verde, known for its female musical exports such as “barefoot diva” Césaria Évora or Mayra Andrade. Morais has played his part in sharing the sensual, melancholy Cape Verdean resonance with the rest of the world.

Coming from one of the richest nations for literature of Lusophone Africa, Ary grew up around music and poetry. He was 15 years old when he first stepped on the stage at the 1990 edition of Praia da Cruz festival on his native island of Boa Vista. Following his passion for music, he then resided on São Vicente island and began earning fame and notoriety from his participation in cultural activities. During this time his music was heard regularly on the well loved Cape Verdean National Radio programme Estrelas da Noite.

Ary emigrated from Cape Verde to Norway in 1995. In 1999, he released his debut album ‘Ka Bo Bayembora’ and soon started performing extensively around Europe. Ary says his departure for Norway brought a number of challenges as a musician, but he is thankful that in Norway his sound began to mature. He has made several albums and carried out tours both within Norway and internationally.

Saturdays’ concert will have you travel to the Lusophone rhythms, making it impossible not to move your body!
